Idaho Falls, ID: On December 27, 2016 at 9:51 a.m., the Idaho Falls Fire Department was dispatched to 139 S. Water Street for a report of smoke coming from an apartment building.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a fire in the attic space. The building was searched and evacuated. The fire was quickly extinguished.
Smoke did travel through several apartments. The power was cut to the entire building due to fire damage near the electrical services.
All tenants were displaced due to the fire. The Red Cross is working with the building tenants for sheltering needs for individuals and pets.
A total of 21 firefighters were on scene to include three engines, one ladder truck, three ambulances, two chiefs and a fire inspector.
The estimated damage is undetermined at this time.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
