Randy Fife was appointed as the City’s lead legal counsel in 2013. Prior to being appointed Idaho Falls City Attorney, Randy had extensive experience in municipal law, including as a City Attorney in another Idaho city. As City Attorney, Fife provides legal-related advice, support, and information to Mayor Casper, and to the City Council. It is his job to ensure that City officials comply with legal and ethical requirements, draft legal documents and pinions, analyze cases and civil litigation, conduct investigations into complaints made by or against the City, any court rulings that may affect the City, and he also oversees the preparation of the departmental budget (although the City Council actually determines salaries). Fife is fluent in Spanish and on-call for consultation by city officials and law enforcement.
