[ARCHIVED] Idaho Falls Named a Best Affordable Mountain Town

Downtown Idaho Falls

Idaho Falls, ID – The City of Idaho Falls has been named one of the nation’s best affordable mountain towns, according to the online website, Livability.com.

“Idaho Falls might not be a mountain town in the literal sense, but as the closest metropolitan area to any of Yellowstone National Park’s entrances, it serves as a gateway to some of the country’s most stunning mountain terrain,” writes Leslie Kennedy, features writer and editor for the website.

“If the draw of nearby destinations like Yellowstone, Grand Teton National Parks or the Craters of the Moon National Monument aren’t enough to lure you to this small town in Eastern Idaho,” she added, “may the promise of a symphony, opera, museums, zoo and minor league baseball team seal the deal.”

In addition to the other criteria used in selecting Idaho Falls, the article also highlighted the fact that the city is home to the College of Eastern Idaho and is central to the technology and scientific research and development of nearby Idaho National Laboratory.

The article also called out the region’s famous agricultural heritage as well as its low cost of living, attractive lifestyle for Millennials and the myriad outdoor recreational opportunities available nearby including camping, hiking fishing and snowmobiling.

Idaho Falls was ranked fifth on the national list.  Other cities included in the article were Ogden, Utah; Leadville, Colorado; Boone, North Carolina; and Crestline, California.
