[ARCHIVED] Police Officers Assist Woman from House Fire

IFFD GraphicIdaho Falls, ID:  On February 27, 2018 at approximately 2:30 a.m., the Idaho Falls Fire Department was dispatched to a home on the 400 block of 12th Street for a report of a structure fire with occupants inside.

When firefighters arrived on scene, one adult male had already exited the home uninjured. Three officers from the Idaho Falls Police Department were escorting one adult female from the home. Firefighters performed a search of the home, but there were no other occupants inside.

“We greatly appreciate the officers from the Idaho Falls Police Department who quickly arrived on scene and began assisting the occupant out of the home safely,” states Idaho Falls Fire Department Chief Dave Hanneman.

The fire reportedly originated in the back bedroom from the occupant smoking a cigarette while wearing oxygen. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the back bedroom and knock it down.  However, there was heat and smoke damage throughout the entire home.

Three engines, three ambulances and a battalion chief responded, for a total of 16 firefighters on scene.

There were no civilians, police officers or firefighters injured.

The estimated cost of the damage is $50,000.
