[ARCHIVED] Swim Meet Dedicated to Idaho Falls Couple

Al & Dina LuptakThe Junior High Championship Swim Meet held at the Wes Deist Aquatic Center this Saturday, Feb. 10 will have an extra special meaning. Teams will not only be swimming for the best times, but also swimming in dedication of a local Idaho Falls couple.

Al and Dina Luptak have dedicated 17 years of volunteer hours helping run all of the Jr. High Swim Meets at the Aquatic Center.  The swim meet will be renamed the Luptak Junior High Championship in their honor.

The dedication and following swim meet will begin at 8:45 a.m. this Saturday.

“The Luptaks not only volunteered countless hours to these teams, but they also fixed the scoreboard and performed numerous acts of kindness for the entire competitive swimming community,” explains Aquatic Manager, Rhonda Newman. “We appreciate the time, energy and support they have given us over the years. This is the first year that they have not been involved in the program in over 17 years. Their absence has been greatly missed.”

The Wes Deist Aquatic Center runs hundreds of programs each year and continues to develop and add additional programs where needed.  The indoor pool offers fitness classes, public swimming, scout programs, the Red Cross Learn to Swim Program and unique events such as the popular Dive-In-Movies.
