Don’t let the colder temperatures get you down! Join Idaho Falls Parks & Recreation for the official opening of Idaho Falls’ newest outdoor recreational activity – the Tautphaus Park Ice Ribbon.
An ice ribbon is a thin layer of ice formed into a 14ft wide by 750ft path. The ribbon of ice, located in the Earl Chapple Baseball Field just east of the Marmo/Lehto Ice Arena will officially open to the public on Wednesday, Jan. 10 at 4:30 p.m.
“Instead of the traditional oval outdoor rink that people are accustomed to, we are changing things up a bit to encourage people to get outside and recreate even more,” explains PJ Holm, Recreation Superintendent for the City of Idaho Falls. We’re excited to introduce this new feature that offers something unlike anything we’ve had in this community before.”
Bring your friends and family! Admission to both the new ice ribbon and the outdoor ice rink are FREE throughout the season. Skate rentals are available inside the Marmo/Lehto Ice Arena for $3.50.
Dates and hours of operation of the outdoor rinks and ice ribbon are subject to change due to weather conditions. We encourage participants to call prior to arrival at (208) 612-8367. ###
