Boom Truck Fire_Idaho Falls Fire DeptOn Nov. 20, 2017 at 9:45 a.m., the Idaho Falls Fire Department was dispatched to Washington Parkway and Crestwood Lane in Idaho Falls for a report of a vehicle fire. Two fire engines and a battalion chief responded.

It was reported that the lifting trusses from a boom truck came in contact with power lines. The truck then started on fire and threatened several structures that were under construction.

Idaho Falls Power was dispatched to assist. Firefighters waited until Idaho Falls Power secured the power before extinguishing the fire.

One patient was transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

The estimated loss for the boom truck is $175,000.

The incident is under investigation.

ORIGINAL PRESS RELEASE (Idaho Falls Power):  At approximately 10:00 a.m., Idaho Falls Power received a report that a boom truck was stuck in the power lines at the 3300 block of Valencia Drive.

The incident did cause a small fire. There were no injuries reported. Idaho Falls Power did temporarily shut off power. Currently, approximately 1000 commercial and residential customers are without power. We anticipate having power restored in 1-2 hours.
