[ARCHIVED] Coffee with a Cop / Meet & Greet Chief Johnson

Coffee with a Cop Flyer_Sept 2017All community members are invited to join us this Saturday, Sept. 16 for Coffee with a Cop at the Villa Coffeehouse on Park Avenue from 10:00 a.m. until noon.

There is no agenda or speeches – just a chance to ask questions, voice concerns and meet Chief Johnson and the other officers in your neighborhood. This is a great opportunity to have a casual conversation with officers from the Idaho Falls Police Department.

The Coffee with a Cop program was launched in October of 2015 to give residents a unique opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the department’s work in their neighborhoods.

The majority of the contact law enforcement has with the public happens during emergencies or emotional situations. Those situations are not always conducive to building relationships with community members and often times create a perception that officers are unapproachable on the street.  Coffee with a Cop breaks down barriers and allows for a relaxed, one-one-one conversation.

Coffee with a Cop is a national initiative supported by the United States Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services. The program aims to advance the practice of community policing through improving relationship between police officers and community members one cup of coffee at a time. ###
