The candidate-filing period for municipal elections opens at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, August 28, 2017. 

City of Idaho Falls residents interested in running for Idaho Falls Mayor or City Council (seats 2, 4 and 6) should file their documentation with the City Clerk’s Office, City Hall, 308 Constitution Way by Friday, Sept. 8 at 5:00 p.m.

The deadline for candidates to withdraw their candidacy by filing a notarized statement of withdrawal with the City Clerk is Monday, Sept. 25, 2017.

The deadline for write-in candidates to file their declaration of intent with the City Clerk indicating the office and term for which they are running and affirming their qualifications to hold the office, if elected, is Oct. 10.

October 13 is the last day to pre-register to vote for the November 7 election. Voters may still register when voting in-person absentee, early voting, or at polling place on Election Day.   Mail-in absentee ballot requests are due Oct. 27 by 5:00 p.m. Nov. 3 is the last day for in-person absentee voting or early voting, which ends at 5:00 p.m.
