[ARCHIVED] Idaho Falls Zoo hosting winter break camps

Red Panda Snow IF Zoo

IDAHO FALLS – The Idaho Falls Zoo will host winter break camps for kids between the ages of 5 and 13. These unique, one-day camps provide fun, interactive activities and up-close learning with animals at your Idaho Falls Zoo.

“While the zoo is closed to the general public for the season, these camps provide a great opportunity for our young wildlife enthusiasts to get a hands-on experience learning about the creatures that make up our zoo family,” said Idaho Falls Zoo Director David Pennock. “We look forward to having these campers come and experience the best little zoo in the West.”

The camps are listed below:

Creature Feature (Ages 5-7) On Dec. 29 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., young naturalists will embark on a journey to uncover the incredible adaptations that animals possess. Join us to sharpen your skills in identifying these unique traits and gain insight into how species adapt over time to thrive in their environments.

Zoo Chef (Ages 8-10) On Dec. 28 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., join the zoo for an exciting culinary adventure that explores the fascinating world of animal diets. Campers will uncover the secrets of herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores while learning what it takes to create nutritious and specially tailored meals for our zoo residents. Get ready to roll up your sleeves, prepare some tasty meals, and discover the ways we care for our animals’ dietary needs.

S.A.F.E Explorers: Big Cat Conservation Camp (Ages 11-13) On Dec. 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., dive into the world of conservation and become a champion for big cats! In this camp, you will explore the pressing threats that wildlife faces today and uncover the power of conservation and the vital role of zoos. Campers will focus on the big cats at the heart of these initiatives. Join us for an immersive experience that will ignite your passion for saving these majestic creatures and inspire you to be a guardian of their future.

Campers must be the age listed in the camp description to sign up. These day camps are designed to have children attend without their parents. If you have additional questions, please reach out to Zoo Educator Bethanie West at (208) 612-8254 or
