[ARCHIVED] Communication lines down

Rollandet and Sunnyside Communication Lines Down

Multiple customers are without fiber, including some City of Idaho Falls facilities, after a dump truck accidently hit communication lines earlier this afternoon. The accident happened just after 2 p.m. at the intersection of Sunnyside Road and McNeil Drive.

The Idaho Falls Fire Department and Idaho Falls Police Department responded, as well as Idaho Falls Power and Idaho Falls Fiber. One westbound lane of Sunnyside will be closed for an extended period of time as fiber crews repair the damage.

No power lines are down, and there is no hazard to the public. There were no injuries reported from the accident. Rollandet and Sunnyside Communication Lines Down2

The exact number of customers without fiber is unknown at this time, but crews are addressing the issue and ask that dispatch lines be kept open for emergencies only. Idaho Falls Fiber will be posting updates on their Facebook page as they become available.

Motorists are asked to slow down, use caution, and be mindful of crews working on the side of the road.  Thank you for your patience as we make repairs as quickly and safely as possible.
