Knife River will be installing a new waterline and reconstructing Saturn Avenue and adjacent streets between Grandview Drive and Broadway. The work starts on May 16. The anticipated completion time is mid-September, barring unforeseen issues.
Detours, multiple lane closures and traffic configurations are necessary to complete the work, including but not limited to the following:
- Cassiopeia Street closed to through traffic beginning May 16.
- Saturn Avenue, between Grandview Drive and Broadway, will be closed May 27 to Aug. 23.
- Adjacent streets off of Saturn Avenue, Crestmont Avenue and Antares Drive, will be closed at various times from May 16 to Sept. 16.
The contractor will make every effort to accommodate access to all properties, although some activities will temporarily block access due to the nature of the work. Motorists and pedestrians are encouraged to plan alternate routes in advance and follow the provided signage.
Water service will be temporarily interrupted to properties in the area at various times throughout the project. Knife River will notify property owners in advance of this interruption. The neighborhood’s patience is appreciated.
For the safety of construction workers, neighbors, and the public, motorists are encouraged to slow down and be fully engaged while behind the wheel.
Idaho Falls Public Works held a neighborhood meeting on April 21 to discuss the project with those directly impacted by construction.
