Idaho Falls Zoo and the Tautphaus Park Zoological Society announce two new ways, in addition to the wonderful gift of zoo membership, you can show the zoo some love and support this holiday season.
Giving Tree for the Animals:
Santa has reported that the animals at the Idaho Falls Zoo are all on the “nice” list this year, so we’re asking you to show them some love by purchasing them gifts!
Idaho Falls Zoo’s Giving Tree is full of fun goodies and toys that will provide new enrichment for the zoo’s animal family. “One of the many ways we ensure we’re always providing our zoo family with the best care and welfare possible is through enrichment,” states Zoo Director David Pennock. “It’s as important to the health of the animals’ as veterinary care and proper nutrition.”
Enrichment gives animals opportunities to demonstrate species-specific behavior and allows them to make choices about their environments. Giving them safe toys and hiding food throughout their habitats are some forms of enrichment. When you give your dog a new chew toy or you hide some kibble in a box for your cat, that’s enrichment!
You can shop for species-specific enrichment or donate to purchase items for the zoo animals at https://bit.ly/36seWAl.
Bring a Zoo Animal Home for the Holidays:
Well, not a real zoo animal, of course. But, here’s the next best thing—adopting a “wild child” at the zoo is a unique and fun gift for your special someone. We’re offering some special holiday adoption packages that include a plush toy, adoption certificate, a card featuring a photo of the animal, species-specific information, and a plaque on the adoption board located in the zoo. The packages have limited availability and are only available through Dec. 21, so get yours at https://www.tpzs.info/wild-child-holiday-promotion/.
Buying a Membership Helps Your Zoo:
Also, don’t forget that zoo memberships make amazing gifts that last the whole year! And purchasing zoo memberships is a great way to support your zoo. If you purchase one through Dec. 21, we guarantee it’ll be available for you to pick up at the zoo for your gift giving. Memberships can be purchased at https://bit.ly/33GKosL.
If you have questions on any of the zoo holiday promotions or memberships, call Laurie, TPZS Executive Director, at (208) 612-8421 or tpzs@cableone.net.
Thanks for supporting your zoo this holiday season!
