[ARCHIVED] Idaho’s Oldest Rodeo Kicks Off with Downtown Idaho Falls Party

Downtown Kick off bull

Idaho Falls, ID – Hold on to your hats, Idaho Falls! The City of Idaho Falls and the War Bonnet Round Up kick off Idaho’s Oldest Rodeo tomorrow, July 31st at 5 pm with a downtown, Wild West party!

The downtown, Wild West extravaganza, which is free to the public, will celebrate the official start of the War Bonnet Round Up with a fun evening for the whole family!

The parking lot on the corner of Capitol and B Streets has been transformed into a mini rodeo arena where rodeo fans young and old can enjoy a great preview of some of the rodeo action they will see Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Sandy Downs.

The kick-off party events are free, and include horse-drawn trolley rides, face painting, photo booth, carnival games, bounce houses, mechanical bull riding, live music, and an old west-style shoot out performance by Mountain River Ranch.

The downtown arena will feature mini bull riding, specialty acts, rodeo clowns and exiting freestyle bullfights.  Residents will also be able to purchase War Bonnet gear and buy tickets for the rodeo at the event.

Members of the media are also invited to a special media event Wednesday morning, prior to the evening event, at 10 am to meet rodeo personnel, learn about the schedule of events, and get “hands on” experience with rodeo events, animals and acts.

For more information and a complete schedule of events, see the War Bonnet Round Up website or follow War Bonnet Round Up Rodeo on Facebook.
