Scout Classes

Whether you are working on a merit badge or completing your requirements, the Aquatic Center has a variety of different scout classes to help you achieve your goal.

Tuesday Scout Nights


Any scout group can reserve a spot on Tuesday night from 8 - 9 p.m. If you don't have your own instructor the Aquatic Center has a limited amount available. Call the Aquatic Center to ask a question or schedule a group. All scout groups must have a reservation in order to swim from 8 -9 pm.  208-612-8519

Prices


Instructors are $10 an hour for up to 8 students.
Groups of 1 - 8 patrons: $12
Groups of 9 - 12 patrons: $18
Group prices include all that enter the pool deck, even if not swimming.

Scheduled Classes


These Classes are usually held during holiday breaks or other days when there is no school. The cost includes the cost of admission and the instructor. If the classes below do not work for your troop or you would like a different class, please contact the Aquatic Center at (208) 612-8519.

Available Classes

Cub Scout Elective Class            
Cost: $7.50
75 minute Class
Covers requirements for the Aquanaut pin for Webelos, Bear Salmon Run elective adventure, and Wolf Spirit of the Water elective adventure.  Please remember to review all requirements before the class.  Be aware that many of the requirements for each award are done in the deep end of the pool, and so adequate swimming is required.
       

 
BSA 1st & 2nd Class            
Cost: $7.50
75 minute Class
Meets the swimming requirements for 1
st & 2nd Class Ranks.  Please review all requirements before the class. Please note - these are only the swimming requirements for both rank advancements, and completing the class will not grant the scout either rank advancement. Must bring participant’s Scout Book so that the requirements might be signed off.     
           

CPR for Scouts (Citizen CPR)
Cost:  $5.00
60 Minute Class
Meets the CPR/AED requirements for First Aid and Lifesaving Merit Badge. Please  review all CPR/AED skills listed in Merit Badge book before coming to class.  No certification earned for this class. However, it must be taken to earn Lifesaving or First Aid Merit Badge.  Scouts must bring a signed Merit Badge Application (blue card) to this class.   

Swimming Merit Badge      
Cost: $24.50
4 Hour Class
Meets requirements for the BSA Swimming Merit Badge.  Review all requirements before the class. Scout must be able to hold breath underwater for a minimum of 10 seconds & submerge 8-10 feet without assistance. The 150 yard swim must be swam continuously, without breaks, assistance, or touching the walls or floors of the pool. Be prepared to swim all 5 strokes in a strong manner. Barely pushing through the strokes will not complete the swim test. Participants must 11 years old and be able to satisfactorily complete all skills in order to earn merit badge.  Scouts must bring a signed Merit Badge Application (blue card) to this class.            

BSA Lifesaving Merit Badge   
Cost: $24.50
4 Hour Class
Meets requirements for BSA Lifesaving Merit Badge with the exception of CPR requirements.  Participants must bring clothes that will get wet during this class (shirt & pants).   Review all requirements before the class. The 400 yard swim must be swam  continuously, without breaks, assistance, or touching the walls or the floor of the pool. It also must be completed in a strong manner. Barely pushing through the swim will not satisfy the requirements for the swim test. Be prepared to swim most of the class. Participants must be 11 years old and be able to satisfactorily  complete all skills and take the CPR for Scouts class  in order to pass off merit badge.  Scouts must bring a signed Merit Badge Application (blue card) to this class.                        

BSA First Aid Merit Badge      
Cost: $30.00
5 Hour Class
Will meet first aid requirements for the First Aid Merit Badge with the exception of the CPR requirements.   Review all requirements before the class. Please note - the first aid kit required for a hiking or camping trip and the personal first aid kit are not the same, and two different kits will need to be brought in to complete both requirements. The requirements list the minimum of supplies that must be included in each kit for passing the requirement.  Participants must be able to satisfactorily do all skills and take the CPR for Scouts class in order to pass off merit badge.  Scouts must bring a signed Merit Badge Application (blue card) to this class.
