K9 Unit

Two police service dogs and their handlers make up the K-9 Unit of the Idaho Falls Police Department. These working dogs are trained to track suspects or lost persons, detect narcotics or explosives, detain and control violent subjects, and to protect their handlers. The dogs live with their handlers and become their partners on and off duty.

Our dogs are deployed daily in a variety of assignments and have proven themselves invaluable. Constant training and great commitment on the part of the officers handling these dogs have made this program a great success.
