The Idaho Falls Police Department was created in 1895 and serves the Idaho Falls, Idaho community. Idaho Falls is home to approximately 62,000 people and is a gathering place for residents and visitors from all over eastern Idaho, as well as tourists enjoying the great outdoors in our backyard.
IFPD employs both sworn and civilian employees in a variety of positions: Police officers, records clerks, emergency communications specialists (aka dispatchers), animal services specialists, crime scene investigators and more. All are important to the day-to-day operations of the Police Department and play important roles in fulfilling IFPD’s mission.
Whether as a sworn officer or a civilian employee, IFPD is a rewarding place to work. We are proud to employ hard-working and dedicated professionals in positions across the department. Policing is fast-paced, exciting and requires a great deal of training. At full strength, the IFPD currently employs approximately 145 employees, 96 of whom are sworn police officers.
